Dear Jon:
Per your request we are filing the additional attached documents to describe to you and the Carmel
Plan Commission members the changes to the design for the above referenced project that have been
made since the previous Plan Commission ADLS approval.
The changes described in the attached drawings primarily were driven by three overriding concerns:
budgetary limitations, functionality of the design, and historical authenticity of the design. Budgetary
concerns resulted. in ch.anges like enlarging the building footprint slightly to. obtain more leasable interior
space, standardizing the windows throughout the p.roject, and replacement of the large storefront areas
with more historically authentic picture window units and individual entrances with transoms.
We have endeavored, while making ALL these changes, to maintain the original intent of the design as
originally presented to the Plan Commission. It is NOT our intention to "bait-and-switch" with the City of
Carmel by building 'a design that is in any way sub-par from the original submittal. It is our intention and
it is my strong belief that this final design actually IMPROVES upon the historical and aesthetic intent of
the original conceptual design.
I want to personally thank you and the Plan Commission members for your understanding and
expeditious action on this issue. IWe are very excited about this project and the positive impact it will
have on the City of Carmel and the Old Meridian D.istrict's future development and we are looking
forward to getting started with the construction as soon as possible.
