This project included the installation, maintenance and operation of entry signs and ornamental street lighting. Your signature and others in your neighborhood appeared on the Petition requesting these improvements. The project was completed over one year ago at a total cost of $142,155. The cost per pacel was set at $585.00. If the assessment is paid in annual installments, the interest rate set by the Board of Public Works accrues at 6.5 %. Attached you will find the amortization schedule, the waiver to pay the assessment in installments, or the full payment, and a list of commonly asked questions about Barrett Law. Please note that unless the assessment is paid in full ($585), a lien will be placed on the property until the total assessment has been paid. This includes the 10 -year payment plan. During the process of notifying property owners that the collection of the assessment was due, your property was inadvertently "dropped" from the assessment role. This is commonly referred to as a computer error. Therefore, you did not receive the notice mailed in October, 2001. If you choose the installment program, you must remit prior to May 9, 2003, the principal amount of $89.53 for year one and year two. This amount (without interest) will allow your account to be current. You will then receive a statement in the fall of 2003 which will include interest. You will receive assessment statements including principle and interest until 2010. You may, of course, also pay the full amount of $585.00 prior to May 9t'.
