GENERAL NOTE
1. The Contractor shall install and /or cause to be installed, all exterior
utilities and shall pay all costs and fees not borne by the local utilities.
All as necessary to provide complete new utility services as per the
requirements and standards of the respective companies.
2. It shall be the responsibility of each contractor to verify all existing
utilities and conditions pertaining to his phase of the work. It shall also
be the contractors responsibility to contact the owners of the various
utilities before work is started. The contractor shall notify in writing
the owners or the engineers of any changes, errors or omissions found on
these plans or in the field before work is started or resumed.
3. No roof drains, footing drains and /or surface water drains may be connected
to the sanitary sewer system, including temporary connections during
construction.
4. Where water lines and sanitary sewers cross and water lines cannot be placed
above the sewer with a minimum of 18 inches vertical clearance, the sewer
must be constructed of water works grade cast iron pipe with mechanical
joints within 10 feet of the water line.
5. All water laterals, gas laterals and sanitary laterals to the building shall
be granular backfilled under paved areas.
6. The Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining all state, city and county
permits.
7. See architectural foundation plans for actual building dimensions.
8. Existing utilities are shown approximate only. Contractor shall verify
location, size, material and depth with respective owners and shall protect
the utilities at all times.
9. Water main shall be Type 'L' copper or for 3" and larger sizes shall be
centrifugally cast ductile iron pipe in accordance with ANSI spec. design
A21.51 and having cement lining in accordance with ASA A21.4. Trench
condition to be laying condition "2" and pipe cover of 54 in, except as
noted. Pipe to be thickness Class 50. Joint to be single rubber gasket
push -on type in accordance with ASNI Spec A 21.11.
10. Gate valves shall be cast iron body, double disc, bronze mounted, non- rising
stem type in accordance with AWWA Standard C -500. To be for 175 PSI working
pressure, direct burial service, with mechanical, bell -end joints,
counterclockwise openings, o -ring packing and 2 in, tee wrench nut. Valves
to have 3 piece, round, type cast iron Buffalo Road box with 5 -1/4 in.
shaft, with "Water" cast in the lid, boxes to be for normal 4 ft. -6in. but
shall be as required to suit each particular setting depth. Valves shall be
Claw, Kennedy, Mueller or approved equal for Indianapolis Water Company
(IWC) pattern.

5. TWO (2) 3" PVC ELECTRICAL CONDUITS FOR THE INCOMING

MCM CONDUCTORS. CONNECTIONS SHALL BE BY THE E.C.
6. REVIEW EXACT FINAL REQUIREMENTS OF NEW DOMESTIC WATER
SERVICE AND NEW FIRE PROTECTION SERVICE WITH THE
INDIANAPOLIS WATER COMPANY AND THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT.
7. CONTRACTOR SHALL NEATLY CUT -IN NEW SANITARY BUILDING LATERAL
INTO EXISTING SANITARY MANHOLE. ALL WORK SHALL BE IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CLAY REGIONAL WASTE
DISTRICT. CUT INTO MANHOLE SHALL BE BY CORE DRILLING
TECHNIQUE. REMOVE EXISTING MANHOLE BENCHWALL AND NEATLY
REFORM NEW BENCHWALL TO SUIT NEW CONNECTION.
8. REVIEW EXACT REQUIREMENTS FOR A WATER LINE AND A DRAIN FOR
THE FOUNTAIN WITH THE FOUNTAIN MANUFACTURER BEFORE STARTING
ANY UNDERGROUND WORK. THIS SHOULD INCLUDE SIZE, DEPTH,
LOCATION, ETC.
9. SEE SHEET E -1 FOR ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS AT CHILLER UNIT.
10. BURIED CHILLED WATER SUPPLY AND RETURN TO BE FURNISHED AND
INSTALLED BY THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR.
