DEMOLITION GENERAL NOTES:
1. THE INTENT OF THE DEMOLITION PLAN IS TO REMOVE ALL ITEMS
NOT REQUIRED FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION OR THAT 16 IN
CONFLICT WITH NEW CONSTRUCTION, WHETHER OR NOT
INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
REMOVE /RELOCATE ALL SUCH ITEMS AS REQUIRED FOR NEW
CONSTRUCTION
2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THESE DRAWINGS WITH
EXISTING FIELD CONDITIONS AND NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT
IMMEDIATELY OF INCONSISTENCIES BETWEEN THEM AND ACTUAL
CONDITIONS BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH CONSTRUCTION.
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ALSO NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT
IMMEDIATELY IF ANY WORK INDICATED IN THE CONTRACT
DOCUMENTS CAN NOT BE PERFORMED DUE TO EXISTING FIELD
CONDITIONS.
4. IF ANY FIREPROOFING OR FIRE ASSEMBLIES WHICH ARE
INDICATED TO REMAIN ARE DAMAGED DURING DEMOLITION,
THEY SHALL BE REPAIRED TO CONFORM TO ORIGINAL FIRE
PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS.
5. REMOVE EXISTING CONSTRUCTION AS INDICATED. TYPICAL
WALL REMOVAL INCLUDES FINISHES AND MECHANICAL
PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS CONTAINED THEREIN.
REMOVE DOORS, CASEWORK, WINDOWS, FRAMES, AND OTHER
FIXTURES AS REQUIRED. AFTER REMOVAL OF PIPE CHASES,
PATCH HOLES IN EXISTING FLOORS OR WALLS TO REMAIN TO
MEET ORIGINAL FIRE PROTECTION AND STRUCTURAL
REQUIREMENTS. PATCH TO RECEIVE NEW FINISHES PER FINISH
SCHEDULE OR PER INTERIOR FINISH PLANS. (WHERE NEW
FINISHES ARE CALLED FOR ON EXISTING SURFACES, REMOVE
THE EXISTING FINISH AND PREPARE SURFACE TO RECEIVE THE
NEW FINISH -MATCH EXISTING, WHERE APPLICABLE.)
6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE AVAILABLE TO THE OWNER,
AND COORDINATE ANY ITEMS TO BE STORED AND /OR
RELOCATED, SUCH AS: EQUIPMENT, DOOR FRAMES, PLUMBING
FIXTURES, HARDWARE, LIGHTS AND /OR OTHER CEILING
MOUNTED DEVICES.
SEE MECHANICAL, PLUMBING, AND ELECTRICAL DRAWING FOR
DEMOLITION OF UTILITIES.
8. FOR EXTENT AND LOCATION OF CHANNELING OF EXISTING
FLOOR SLABS REFER TO MECHANICAL, PLUMBING, AND
ELECTRICAL DRAWINGS, IF EXISTING PIPING OR CONDUIT WORK
(OTHER THAN THE DESIRED CONNECTION) IS ENCOUNTERED
WHILE CHANNELING, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE
ARCHITECT BEFORE CONTINUING.
S. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THAT EXIT EGRESS 15
MAINTAINED FOR ALL OCCUPIED AREAS OF THE BUILDING
THROUGHOUT CONSTRUCTION.
10. DEMOLITION WORK SHALL BE EXECUTED IN CONFORMANCE WITH
ALL CODES AND AS SET FORTH BY ALL GOVERNING
AUTHORITIES.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BRACE ALL EXISTING STRUCTURES
OR STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS AS NECESSARY DURING
DEMOLITION.
12. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT CUT STRUCTURAL WORK IN A
MANNER RESULTING IN A REDUCTION OF LOAD CARRYING
CAPACITY OR LOAD /DEFLECTION RATIO. THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT OF ALL STRUCTURAL CUTS
PRIOR TO EXECUTION SO THAT APPROVAL CAN BE OBTAINED
FROM THE ARCHITECT/ENGINEER-
13. THE EXISTING BUILDING ENVELOPE SHALL BE MAINTAINED IN A
WATER TIGHT CONDITION AT ALL TIMES.
14. WHERE EXISTING CONSTRUCTION IS FOUND TO CONTAIN
ASBESTOS, NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT PRIOR TO REMOVAL.
REMOVAL DISPOSAL AND REPLACEMENT OF THE ASBESTOS
MATERIAL SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH FEDERAL, STATE,
AND LOCAL REGULATIONS. REPLACE THE ASBESTOS
MATERIAL WITH NEW MATERIALS AS SPECIFIED OR APPROVED
BY THE ARCHITECT.
15, CONTRACTOR TO USE CAUTION WHEN TRENCH CUTTING SLAB
FOR UNDERGROUND PLUMBING. EXISTING CONDUITS MAY EXIST
UNDER EXISTING SLAB.
