I. All signs, standards, and barricades shall conform to current Indiana Manual on Uniform
Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
2. Temporary sign locations apply only during perlods of lane closures. All other signs
shall remain until work within right -oF -way is complete.
3. When traffic flow must be reduced to one lane, traffic shall be channelized with
standard construction drums and Flaggers.
4. The maintenance of Traffic Plan is a guideline for warning of construction within the
right -oF -way. It is the responsibility of the contractor to obtain approval for the
planned construction activities from the City of Carmel and /or Hamilton County as
required.
5. Drum barricades are to be set back at end of day. Flashing arrow sign shall remain as
long as excavation is left open.
General 5 i to C-;ra 6 ing Notes:
1. See C2OOs For erosion control to be incorporated during earth moving activities.
2. Contractor to coordinate all earth moving activities with all existing and new utilities.
3. Contractor shall stabilize all cuts against erosion.
4. All new curbs shall be &' above finished grade unless otherwise noted.
5. Contractor shall stabilize any stockpiled topsoil against erosion within 15 days of
stockpiling. Lawn mixture grasses as specified (or equal as approved by Landscape
Architect) shall be used for stabilization.
ro. Prior to Finish grading, contractors shall maintain all water draining off site consistent
with the drawings. No water shall be diverted onto adjoining properties during any
part of the grading process.
1. All areas disturbed by construction shall be fine graded to drain and seeded per
the specifications.
8. All new sidewalks sloping to meet existing grades shall be at a smooth slope.
General Site Utility Notes:
1. All known utility locations are approximate. It is the responsibilty of the contractor
to contact all affected utilities and the local utility protection service prior to
beginning work.
2. All connections to existing storm, sanitary, water, gas, and electric utilities "it be
verified with engineer and coordinated with respective utility prior to beginning
work.
3. A layer of filter fabric shall be placed under each inlet casting during the
construction period.
4. All disturbed soil areas shall be seeded or sodded immediately after construction
activities are completed. See specs.
5. All dimensions to manholes /inlets are to center of manhole.
6. Contractor shall install gactextile Fabric under all new trench drain castings
immediately after structure is in place.
General Staking aid Layout Notes
I. Contractor shall stake and verify all dimensions in Field prior to Initiation of any construction.
Review any discrepancies immediately with Landscape Architect for resolution.
2. Where not shown, sidewalk expansion joints shall be 30' -0' o.c. and control joints 5' -0' o.c, and
curb expansion joints shall be 50' -0' o.c. and control joints 10' -0' o.c-
3. All walks shall receive medium broom Finish perpendicular to directions of traffic flow. Coordinate
junctions with Landscape Architect in Field, unless otherwise noted.
4. All plant material locations shall be marked with 2' by 2' wood stake prior to installation
For approval from Landscape Architect. Any plant material installed at the incorrect location
(in the judgement of the Landscape Architect) upon the contractor's disregard for staking,
Shall be reinstalled at no cost to the owner.

I. in areas where paving or concrete slabs are being removed and lawn or planting
areas are proposed, contractors shall excavate to subgrade material. Contractor
shall dispose of excavated material off -site at approved disposal sites only.
2. In areas where curbing, walks, and /or drives are being removed and either new curbs,
walks, and /or drives will abut them or the remaining edge will be visible, the contractor
shall cleanly saw cut the areas to be removed.
3. Contractor shall be responsible for the protection of existing trees and shrubs to
remain within the limits of construction to the extent of the drip lines. Existing trees
shall be Fenced off and no materials or heavy equipment shall encroach fenced area
during demolition and construction.

4. Contractor to remove and dispose of all debris in a legal manner.
5. Contractor to maintain dust control with water at all times. Meter installation and water
costs are the responsibility of the contractor.

1. Catch basins, sewer inlets, etc. are to be protected from debris and sedimentation
during demolition. Install filter fabric under any inlet castings on or off site that
receive stormwater from the site before any demolition or earthwork activities.
