Landscaping Notes:
1. A minimum of 4" of topsoil shall be placed on all
areas shown to be hydroseeded. Use suitable topsoil
from stock -piled site stripping. Topsoil shall be free
from subsoil, vegetation, weeds or any extraneous or
deleterious materials larger than 1 ", remove any
unsuitable and excess topsoil, as determined by soils
engineer, from the site. Furnish any additional
topsoil needed at no additional cost.
2. In case of discrepancies between the plan and the
plant list, the plan shall dictate.
3. All trees shall have a 4' diameter ring covered
with a 2" to 3" thick layer of shredded hardwood
mulch. Mulch shall be uniform in texture and color.
No utility mulch or processed tree trimmings will be
allowed. All planting beds shall have s pre- emergent
herbicide per manufacturer's specifications.
4. All plantings are to meet or exceed American
standards for nursery stock, 1986 edition, as set
forth by American association nurserymen.
5. Plants and all other materials to be stored on
site will be placed where they will not conflict with
construction and as directed by owner.
6. All new landscape plantings shall be guaranteed
for a period of two years following final inspection by
owner. At the end of this period, plant material
termed dead or unsatisfactory by owner shall be
replaced at no additional charge by the landscape
contractor.
7. All disturbed lawn areas shall be hydroseeded as
noted on the plans.
8. All plantings beds shall have a spade edge.
9. Street Tree Species Recommendations List (this
sheet): The list is provided as a guide to the most
appropriate species for street tree plantings in urban
areas. There is no single perfect tree; the most
successful course is to match the planting site
limitations with the right tree for that spot. Each site
must be evaluated and possible restrictions of tree
species noted. These restrictions include rooting
space, soil texture, soil pH, drainage, exposure,
overhead wires and surrounding building surfaces.
The trees appearing on this list have different
requirements and tolerances. All of these species
should do well in the urban forest environment of
Carmel. Before selecting any particular species or
variety, further research should be done to ensure
that the site would satisfy the specific requirements
of the plant. Some of the species or cultivars listed
here may not be readily available at local nurseries,
particularly in calipers large enough for planting in
high traffic areas. Tree shelters and staking may
provide limited protection.
