Dear Mr. Olds:
On behalf of CSO Architects Inc., I am pleased to present this proposal to provide
architectural, engineering and project management services to the Carmel Redevelopment
Commission for Parcel 31 located in the Carmel Arts District of Old Town. These services
will be provided under the contract for professional services dated December 29, 2000
between the Carmel Redevelopment Commission and CSO Architects, Inc.
As you are aware, this is the fourth of four gateways designed for the streets entering the
Arts District. The first two have been bid and are currently in the construction phase. The
third will be bid as part of the street improvement package currently being prepared by DLZ.
The design of the fourth gateway will parallel the design of the first three, with site - specific
changes incorporated as necessary
The scope of services provided by CSO Architects, Inc. will include the following:
• Adjustment of design to respond to site - specific requirements.
• Construction Documents of all improvements for public bidding through the
Construction Manager
• Coordination of Bidding Phase including public advertisements, distribution of
documents, response to questions during bidding, and review of submitted bids for
conformity to requirements
• Coordination of work with and the Redevelopment Commission and Construction
Manager.
• Review of shop drawings
• Site observations to ensure that the gateway is constructed in accordance with the
construction documents

We propose to provide these on an hourly basis according to the attached hourly rate
schedule. We would expect the cost of our services to not exceed $30,000 based on the
scope of work as currently understood.
Reimbursable expenses will be billed according to the attached price list. These expenses
should not exceed $5,000.
If we anticipate that the cost of our services will exceed the amounts listed above due to
unforeseen conditions or changes, we will contact you to receive approval prior to beginning
work.
