CUSTOM ORNAMENTAL PLASTIC TRIM (HDPU)
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 SUMMARY
A. This Section includes High Density Polyurethane Foam Trim and Ornamental Products:
1. Exterior standing and running trim.
2. Exterior ornamental piecework.
1.02 RELATED SECTIONS
A. 01 3300 - Submittal Procedures.
B. 01 4000 - Quality Requirements.
C. 06 1000 - Rough Carpentry.
D. 07 9000 - Joint Sealer.
E. 09 9000 - Painting and Coating
1.03 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: For materials indicated.
B. Shop Drawings: Include location of each item, dimensioned plans and elevations, large-scale
details, attachment devices, and other components.
C. Samples: Provide a sample of the profile for approval.
1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Manufacturer/Fabricator: Company specializing in manufacture of the types required for this
project. Obtain all manufactured trim from a single manufacturer.
B. Installer qualifications: Installer experienced in performing work of this section who has
specialized in installation of work similar to that required for this project.
C. Performance requirements: Provide manufactured trim which has been manufactured,
fabricated and installed to maintain performance criteria stated by manufacturer without defects,
damage or failure.
D. Fire Test Characteristics: Provide manufactured trim which passes ASTM E84 for Class A
requirements by UL or other testing and inspecting agency acceptable to authorities having
jurisdiction.
1.05 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
A. Ordering: Comply with manufacturer’s ordering instructions and lead time requirements to avoid
construction delays.
B. Delivery: Deliver materials in manufacturer’s original, unopened containers with identification
labels intact.
C. Storage and Protection: Store materials protected from exposure to harmful weather conditions
and at temperature and humidity conditions acceptable to manufacturer.
1.06 WARRANTY
A. Manufacturer’s Warranty: Submit for Owner’s acceptance, manufacturer’s standard warranty
document executed by authorized company official.
B. Warranty Period: Manufacturer’s 5 year limited warranty against defects in material and
workmanship.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.01 MANUFACTURERS
A. Basis of Design: Spectis Moulders Inc.
B. Alternate Manufacturers:
1. Fypon, Ltd.
2. Substitutions: See Section 01 6000 - Product Requirements
2.02 MATERIALS
A. Board (Sheet) Materials:
1. When required for specific ornamental items, provide High Density Polyurethane stock for
fabrication.
a. Density: 15 pcf
B. Prefabricated Materials:
1. Provide high density polyurethane shapes with a skin density exceeding the core density
creating a smooth shell-like surface.
a. Compressive strength: 850 to 950 psf
b. Tensile strength: 550 to 650 psf
2. Finish:
a. All trim and ornamental items are to be factory primed with a UV stabilizing primer
compatible with the finish paint products noted in the Master Material Schedule on the
drawings.
C. Adhesives:
1. Use only adhesives recommended by the HDPU manufacturer for each specific substrate
where the trim and ornamental items will be installed.
D. Sealants:
1. Refer to Section 07 9005 - Joint Sealants.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 EXAMINATION
A. Site Verification of Conditions:
B. Prior to start of installation, inspect all preceding work to ensure that there are no
conditions which will cause an unsatisfactory installation of work involving manufactured trim
products.
C. Notify Architect in writing of any unacceptable conditions.
D. Do not install any work involving manufactured trim products until unsatisfactory
conditions are corrected and acceptable for proper installation of work.
E. Correct any unacceptable work involving manufactured trim products, which was
installed over unsatisfactory conditions at no cost to Owner.
3.02 PREPARATION
A. Protection: Protect surrounding and adjacent work to prevent damage to preceding work during
execution of this work.
B. B. Surface Preparation: Perform all preparation necessary for a successful installation of
manufactured trim products as specified in installation instructions for product.
3.03 INSTALLATION
A. Protection: Protect surrounding and adjacent work to prevent damage to preceding work during
execution of this work.

B. Ensure full compliance with Manufacturer’s instructions in all aspects of tasks required by this
work.
C. Coordinate work installing manufactured trim products with other contractors and provide proper
accommodation for following work by other trades.
D. Install sealant in accordance with Manufacturer’s installation recommendations. Use only
sealant products, which are approved for use with Manufacturer’s materials.
E. Install adhesives at joints and for fastening in accordance with Manufacturer’s
recommendations for proper installation of products. Use only adhesives approved for use with
Manufacturer’s materials.
F. Apply finish paint to all exposed surfaces of manufactured trim and ornamental pieces prime
coated materials installed on exterior of project.
3.04 PROTECTION
A. Install temporary protective materials necessary to prevent significant damage to manufactured
trim materials installed in this work. Remove protection when required to permit project
completion.
3.05 MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONS
A. Follow Manufacturer’s instructions and recommendations on painting, repairing, and
maintaining all material installed under this Section.
