DAILY SITE OBSERVATIONS
[n response toyoucrequesL-our senior projectpmanager and senior engineering technician arrived at the above
referenced site to evaluate the present site soil conditions at the basement footing elevation and the shallow
:foundations for the proposed structure.
. — -L-lousel-pcnetratiomtests-were conducted on the-soils at the-design footing.elevalion and extending.to.a.dcpth _-
of approximately 18 inches below the base of the excavations. Based on housel penetration:tests and pocket
pcnetiomi tcrvalues; the soil's at the basement foundation elevation do not possess'sufficient strength to meet
the required minimum unconfined compressive soil strength of 2500 list
Wc.recomniend the.foundation'in the basementarea be cnlargetto'32inches wide. The footing should also
be'incre t cdtto 12 Niches thick. We furthenrecommend 4 lows of,/4lebar bc;installed equally spaced across
this, section of footing with a minimum cover of 3 inches from the.bottom:and sides of the proposed footing.
The soils in (lie base 01 the foundations should be scraped just prior to placement of concrete to remove the
surface water and near surface vi'et-soil:materials.
The soils at the shallow footing elevations were found to meet or exceed the.required unconfined compressive
soil strength o12500 psf:
