Indiana American Water is writing this letter in opposition of the proposed gas station at
the southwest corner of 1461h Street and River Road within the Legacy development.
The proposed gas station by Ricker's Oil Company falls within a wellhead protection
zone associated with an invaluable water supply in central Indiana, specifically Hamilton
and Marion County. The associated soils, specifically Fox Loam fnB2, in this area are
very porous with sand in close proximity to the surface that could permit accidental fuel
spills and/or underground tank leaks to enter the aquifer quickly and easily.
As a purveyor of water in Hamilton County that utilizes this same aquifer, Indiana
American Water supports any and all Wellhead Protection Zones and associated
Ordinances. We believe all ground water aquifers should be protected and that this type
of land use within this Wellhead Protection Zone should not be approved.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
a&) /
