Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 SUMMARY A. This Section includes the following: 1. Decorative Mouldings 2. Exterior Column Covers 3. Interior Column Covers 4. Gable Vents (non-venting) 5. Dome B. Related Sections include the following: 1. Division 6 Section "Miscellaneous Carpentry" for wood blocking & support. 2. Division 7 Section "Sealants" for sealant of exposed exterior items to adjacent materials. 3. Division 9 Section “Painting” for finish of shop primed units 1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Fabricator Qualifications: Shop that employs skilled workers who custom-fabricate products similar to those required for this Project and whose products have a record of successful in- service performance. This manufacturer shall have been manufacturing fiberglass architectural components in the United States for at least 10 years doing work with projects comparable to that specified and shown. B. Installer Qualifications: Fabricator of products. C. Inspect each molded piece to ensure that it complies with specified requirements, including nominal dimensions. 1.4 SUBMITTALS A. Shop Drawings: Dimensions, adjacent construction, materials, thicknesses, fabrications details, required clearances, field jointing, tolerances, colors, finishes, methods of support, integration of components and anchorages. B. Parts List: Complete list of parts with numbers. C. Product Data: Manufacturer’s product data and installation and maintenance instructions. Product Samples: Minimum 3 inch x 3 inch sample. Match sample provided by Architect. 1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE & HANDLING A. Handle, store and transport fiberglass fabrications according to manufacturer’s recommendations and in a manner that prevents damage. B. Protect fabrications from damage by retaining shipping protection in place until installation. C. Damage Responsibility: Except for damage caused by others, the installer is responsible for chipping, cracking, or other damage to fiberglass fabrications, after delivery to the job site and until installation is completed and inspected and approved by the Owner's representative. 1.6 COORDINATION A. Coordinate sizes and locations of framing, blocking, reinforcements, and other related units of Work specified in other Sections to ensure that exterior architectural woodwork can be supported and installed as indicated. 1.7 WARRANTY A. Warrant fabrications to be free from defects due to materials and workmanship for one year. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 MANUFACTURERS A. In other Part 2 articles where titles below introduce lists, the following requirements apply to product selection: 1. Size: 83 ¾” diameter, 14 3/8” rise 3. Color: manufacturer’s prefinished white 2.7 ACCESSORIES A. Provide manufacturer’s recommended trim, fasteners, and other accessories. 2.8 MATERIAL CHARACTERISTICS A. Urethane Millwork 1. Manufacturer’s standard moulded, hardened liquid urethane trim units, finished with one barrier coat of primer and a finish coat of primer. B. PVC Millwork: 1. Manufacturer’s standard molded, free foam, solid color PVC trim. PART 3 - EXECUTION A. PRE-INSTALLATION EXAMINATION 1. Observe field conditions and verify that substrates are ready for installation of fiberglass fabrications. 2. Check field dimensions affecting the installation of fiberglass fabrications. 3. Verify that bearing surfaces are true and level. 4. Verify that support framing has been constructed to allow accurate placement, alignment and connection of fabrication to structure. 5. Report discrepancies between design dimensions and field dimensions, which could adversely affect installation, to the Architect. Do not proceed with installation until discrepancies are corrected, or until installation requirements are modified and approved by the Architect. 7. Beginning of installation means acceptance of existing conditions. 3.2 INSTALLATION A. Install fabrications in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and approved shop drawings. 3.3 ALLOWABLE TOLERANCES FOR INSTALLED UNITS A. Maximum Offset from True Alignment: 1/8 inch in 20 feet. B. Maximum Variation from True Position: 1/4 inch in 20 feet. 3.4 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING A. Clean installed fabrications using cleaning methods and materials approved by manufacturer. 3.5 PROTECTION A. Comply with manufacturer’s recommendations and instructions for protecting installed fabrications during construction activities. END OF SECTION 06610
