Drawings and general provisions of Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division-1 Specification sections, apply to work of this section. 1.2 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Comply with ANSI A13.1 for lettering size, length of color field, colors, and viewing angles of identification devices. 1.3 SUBMITTALS A. Product Data Submit manufacturer’s technical product data and installation instructions for each identification material and device required. B. Valve Tag Schedule Submit for approval 3 original copies of the Valve Tag Schedule. Upon approval by the Engineer, forward 3 original copies to the Owner. Include 1 copy in the O&M. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS Subject to compliance with requirements, provide mechanical identification materials of one of the following: Allen Systems, Inc. Brimar Industries, Inc. Brady (W.H.) Co.; Signmark Div. Industrial Safety Supply Co., Inc. Seton Name Plate Corp. Craftmark Identification Systems 2.2 MECHANICAL IDENTIFICATION MATERIALS A. PLASTIC PIPE MARKERS Provide manufacturer’s standard pre-printed, permanent adhesive, color-coded, pressure-sensitive vinyl pipe markers, complying with ANSI A13.1. Comply with piping system nomenclature as specified, scheduled or shown, and abbreviate only as necessary for each application length. Print each pipe marker with arrows indicating direction of flow, either integrally with piping system service lettering (to accommodate both directions), or as separate unit of plastic. B. VALVE TAGS Provide 1-1/2”, 19-gage polished brass valve tags with stamp-engraved piping system abbreviation in ¼” high letters and sequenced valve numbers ½” high, and with 5/32” hole for fastener. Provide size and shape as specified or scheduled for each piping system Fill tag engraving with black enamel. EQUIPMENT IDENTIFICATION A. Provide manufacturer’s standard engraved plastic equipment tags. Background color shall be black with white lettering. Minimum tag size shall be 1-1/2 inch by 3-inch x 1/8 inch thick. Minimum lettering height shall be 3/4 inch high. Equipment markers which are to be used on equipment exposed to the weather shall have drilled mounting holes. BICKFORD OF CARMEL, IN 12/12/2012 MECHANICAL IDENTIFICATION 15190-2 Equipment markers which are to be used on equipment not exposed to the weather shall have adhesive backing. Provide equipment identification marker / tag on each major piece of mechanical equipment (i.e. exhaust fans, rooftop units, pumps, condensing units, etc.). Marker / tag shall have the same mark as indicated on the Contract Documents (i.e. RTU-1, CU-1, EF-1). PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 PIPING SYSTEM IDENTIFICATION A. Install pipe markers on each system indicated to receive identification, and include arrows to show normal direction of flow. Provide pipe markers on each system where system piping is visible. Where piping is indicated to be insulated by other sections of this specification, pipe markers shall be applied to the pipe and to the insulation covering. 3.2 SYSTEMS TO BE IDENTIFIED Domestic Cold Water Domestic Hot Water (120° F) Domestic Hot Water Recirculating (120° F) Sanitary Waste – Above Ground Sanitary Vent – Above Ground Condensate Drain Natural Gas Piping - 2 LB Supply Ductwork Return Ductwork Outside Air Ductwork Exhaust Ductwork Fire Sprinkler Piping (Dry) Fire Sprinkler Piping (Wet) Domestic Hot Water (140° F) END OF SECTION
