HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC-07-01-13-01 Office Lease for Carmel Utilities Dept with CRC 30 West Main Street Sponsor: Councilor Snyder RESOLUTION CC-07-O1-13-01 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA, REGARDING AN OFFICE LEASE FOR CARMEL UTILITIES DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, Indiana Code Section 36-1-10 el seq. provides for the lease of structures by political subdivisions; and WHEREAS, the Carmel Utilities Department has shown to the Common Council's satisfaction that it is in need of office space so that it may carry out its duties and responsibilities to the City of Carmel and its utility customers; and WHEREAS, the lease for the office space currently leased by Carmel Utilities Department expires August 26, 2013; and WHEREAS, the City of Carmel Redevelopment Commission currently leases office space at 30 West Main Street; and WHEREAS, there is office space available at 30 West Main Street; and WHEREAS, relocating the Carmel Utilities Department to 30 West Main Street will result in economic savings to the Carmel Utilities Department and the City of Carmel Redevelopment Commission; and WHEREAS, Indiana Code Section 36-1-10-7 requires that the City of Carmel's fiscal body determine that Carmel Utilities Department is in need of a structure before leasing a structure. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of%the City of Carmel, Indiana that: r 1. There is a need for adequate offices for Carmel Utilities Department. :.=; 2. That Carmel Utilities Department is encouraged to take all necessary steps to secure a lease within the structure located at 30 West Main Street in Carmel, Indiana.
