HomeMy WebLinkAbout037-97. Cover SheetTYPICAL SANITARY SEWER SPECIFICATIONS WITHIN CLAY TOWNSHIP REGIONAL WASTE D�STRICT: 1. Stondard specifications of the Clay Waste District and Indiana Department of Highwoys shall apply for all work and materials. Pipe shall be installed in occordance with Section 715. 2. Sanitary sewer pipe shall be PVC in accordance with ASTM D-3034-89 (S.D.R. 35) and ASTM 2321. PVC pipe shall have grooved bell and gasket. The pipe shall be made of PVC plastic hoving a cell classificotion of 124548. 3. PVC sewer fittings sholl conform to the requirements of ASTM d-3032-89 specification. Fittings in sizes through 8" shall be molded in one piece with elastomeric joints and minimum socket depths as specified in sections 6 2 ond 7.3.2. Fittings 10" ond larger shall be molded or fobricated in occordance with section 7.11 with manufacturers standord pipe belis and gaskets. Wall thickness of fittings shall be SDR 26 as defined in section 7.4.1 of the specifications. Gasl:ets for elastomeric joints shall be molded with a minimum cros's-sectional area of 0.20 squore inches and conform to ASTM F-477 specificotion. Fittings shall be rrianufactured by Harco or equol. 4. All sanitary manholes shall be "precast concrete manholes in accordance with ASTM C-478 and Section 720. 0-Rings shall conform to C-443. Kent Seal or equivalent sholl also be applied to all joints and between riser rings ond castings. Manhole step spacing shall be no more thon 16-inches. 5. Butyl rubber coating shall be appl�ed around each monhole joint from 6-inches above to 6-�nches below each joint. The appropriate primer shall be applied prior to applying the rubber coating. Inside joints to be filled with precoat plug material. 6. The casting elevations ore set by plan. However, the castings are to be adjusted in the field by the Engineer's representative, sho��ld a discreponcy occur between plan grade and existing qrode. New monhole ring ond cover shall be installed to establish grode. Moximum height of adjusting rings sholl be 12-inches. 7. If sturm/sonitary pipe is to be under povement or at its nearest point is within 5 ft. or less of pavement, sidewalks, curbs, 9utters or similar structures, the entire trench shall be bockfilled with material in occordance with 211 .O1 of the 1988 indiana Deportment of Highway Stondard Spec s. B. The Contractor shall be responsible for verifying that ail stote highways, city and county permits have been obtained by the developer prior to start of construction. 9. The Contractor sholl be required to furnish the developer's Engineer with a set of prints, marked in red pencil, showing octual sewer location ond invert, to include lateral location, depth and length. Such "as-built" prints must be received by the Engineer before the final contract payment can be authorized. The sanitary sewer laterols ond stubs termination shall be indicated on the surface with a 10' 2x4 pointed orange set immediotely above soid terminotion point, with lateral depth written on 2x4 10. All sanitary sewer lines upon completion will be required to pass an infiltrotion weir test and a low pressure air test, unless otherwise directed by the Engineer. Said test shall be conducted occording to NCPI Stondord Method, and shall be witnessed by an Enqineer ond o representative of the C ay Woste District. 11. Deflection tests shall be performed on all flexibfe' pipe after the final backfill has been in-place at least 30 days. No pipe sholl exceed a vertical deflection of 5 percent deflection test results. ("The following are cunsidered non-flexible pipes: concrete pipe, ductile iron pipe and cast iron pipe.) The deflection test sho�l be performed with a nine-point mandrel. Provinq rings sholl be available. 12. All mandrel testing sholl be observed by a Professionol Engineer for certificotion ond a representative of the Cloy Waste District. 13. The ends of latera�s are to be plugged tight with o broced plastic disc or cap copoble of withstonding a low pressure air test without leakoge. 14. Bedding for flexible pipe shall be No. 8 crushed stone from 6-inches below the pipe to 12-inches above the pipe. Bedding for rigid pipe shall be No. 8 crushed stone from 6-inches below the pipe to the spring line of the pipe ond from this point to 12 inches above sholl be fill sand or equivalent. Manholes shall be placed on no less thon 6-inches of No. 8 crushed stone bedding. 15. Water and sewer line crossings and separotions shall be in accordance with Ten States' Standords. 16. Trench shall be opened sufficiently ahead of pipe laying to reveal obstructions, and sholl be properly protected and/or borricoded when left unattended. 17. No water shall be permitted to flow into the sanitory sewer system durinq construction. Controctor shall utilize a pump to keep tfie woter level below the pipe. Pump discharge sholl be directed to a storm outlet. Any pipe entering existing sewers shall be plugged, until such time es all tests on the sewers have been completed and the lines have possed all punch lists. NOTE: Pluq must be mechan�cal screwed type. 18. All sewer foterols installed by the mainline Contractor shall be bedded the same as the moin line sewer. 19. Forty-eight (48) hours notice shall be given to the Clay Waste District prior to the start of sewer construction. Also, 48-hours notice shall be given prior to any testing done on the sewer. 20. Manhole castings shall be stamped "SANITARY SEWER" (Neenah Casting R 1642 or equol) and be self-sealing type. Waterproof castings shall be Neenah R-1916-F1 ond stamped "Sanitary Sewer". 21. The minimum slope for sewer acceptonce by the Clay Township Regionol Waste District ore: Size of pipe Minimum Constructed Slope 8-inch 0.40°l, 10-inch 0.28% 12-inch 0.22� 15-inch 0.157 18-inch 0.12i 22. The Controctor sholl provide meosurements of the slope of the sewer for each manhole section as construction progresses. Such measurements shall be certified by a Registered Land Surveyor or Engineer ond be availobie on-site for observotion by the District's Inspector. No more than three monhole sections can be constructed in advance of such meesurements. 23. In the event the Controctor does not meet the minimum slopes, the sewer section and any other affected sewer sections shali be reconstructed to meet such minimum slopes. 24. No roof drains, footing drains and/or surface water droins may be connected to the sanitary sewer system, including temporary ccnnections during construction. 25. Sewers crossing mains shal! be loid to provide minimum distonce of 18 inches between the outside of the woter moin and the oui:side of the sewer. This sholl be the case where the water main is either above of below the sewer. The crossing shall be arranged so that the sewer joints will be equidistant and os far as possible from the M;oter main �oints. Where a woter main crosses under o sewer, adequote structurol support shall be provided for the sewer prevent damage to the water moin. When it is impossibie to obtoin proper horizontal and vertical separation as stipulated obove, the sewer shall be desiqned ond constructed eq��al to woter pipe and sholl be pressured tested to assure watertightness prior to backfilling. 26. Water mains shall be of ductiie iron Class 50 cement lined pipe, and or os specified by the presiding water company, unless otherwise noted in the plans. A. Water lines snall be of ductile iron pipe, Class 50 cement lined pipe, unless otherwise noted in the plans. B. Stop shall be those manufactured by Ford or Mueller Corporation with AWWA taper thread, ond with copper compression type fitting on outlet, or equal. C. Blow-off valves shall be those manufactured by Mueller Corporation (H-10283 or H-10291), or equal. D. Angle valves at the end of water service stub are to be copper compression type fitting also, ond are to be pr;;'e�ted with plastic boy over the volve. E 3/4" taps in lines smaller than 4 inches shall be only by tapped tee or tapping soddle. Water service lines should be markeci on curbs with blue paint. (Sewer lateral locotion - red). 27. No troffic will be allowed on prepared subgrade prior to paving. 28. All street construction within the lines of dedicated right-of-way shall be in accordonce with the Specifications of th•: �amilton County Highway Deportment. 29. Property line corners of street intersections are rounded by an arc having a 25' rodius. Property iines drawn hereon ore carried io the P.I. of the orc. 30. A temporary seedinq mixture in the oreos where stripping of fills have been graded shall be seeded for silt and erc��•�n protection. After groding oll construction areas are to be seeded as follows: A. Swale seeding - seed ond fertilize within construction limits with 5j�/ocre "Redtop" grass, 20�/ocre "Rye Grass", 20�/acre "Blue Grass", 25�j/acre "Toll Fescue Gross", and 600�/acre 12-12-12 fertilizer. B. Cut/Fill Seeding Along Paved Areas - seed and fertilize with 25�//ocre "Tall Fescue Grass", 20�/acre "Rye Grass", 15jj/ocre "Blue Grass", and 600j�/ocre 12-12-12 fertilizer. 31. The location of houses (depicted by rectangles) show the pad elevation and/or outside grade. The finished floor elevotion is 12" inches higher, more or less than the outside grade. 32. It shall be the responsibility of each contractor to verify all existinq utilities and conditions pertaining to his phase of the work. It sholl be the contractors responsibility to contact the owners of the various utilities before work is storted. The contractor shall notify in writing the owners ond/or engineers of any chanqes, errors, or omissions found on these plans or in the field before work is storted or resumed. 33. All droinoge pipe and ditch outfalis to receiving streams shall be constructed in accordance with drawings, subject however, to any modificotion required by the County Droinage Board at the time instailation is completed and to any adjustments needed for field conditions that could not be antic�pated on the design drowings. 34. Contractor to record dimension of eoch water stub from neorest fire hydront measured along the water moin. 35. The above locotions of laterols, olong with any other construction changes are to be incorporoted on the originol construction drowings and record drowings submitted to the Clay Township Regional Waste District Office as soon ofter completion of construction as possible. 36. Contractor shall verify subsurface conditions prior to bidding. 37. All storrn sewers shall be constructed with reinforced concrete pipe Class III or as noted and contorm to A.S.T.M. C-76 or latest revision. All manholes shall be precast concrete construction in accordonce with State of Indiana Specifir_ations and sholl hove Type "A" cost iron ring ond cover. 2. Joints ir sewer pipe shall conform to A.S.T.M. Specification C-425 or Iatest revision. 3. Sewer pi�,e sholl be bedded in occordance with detail shown. Sewer trenches shall be kept free of all woter. Do not allow water or mud tc enter the sewer. 4. AI� pipe or drainage structures in trenches under paved surfaces and within 10 feet of 1he povement shatl be backfilled with granular material and compacted by appro���ad methods. 5.
