RE: Marriott Suite Hotels / Docket No. 61 -00 -DP /ADLS DATE: April 18, 2000 The following is a summary of the comments generated by the Special Studies Committee on April 11th in response to our presentation of the proposed Marriott Suite Hotels project: 1. Regarding the Residence Inn, it was requested that we change the roof line from its residential - looking pitched roof to a more commercial roof line. 2. Regarding the Residence Inn, it was requested that we eliminate EIFS on the fourth story of the building and change the facade to all brick. 3. Regarding the Residence Inn, it was requested that we change the overall design of the gatehouse located at the front of the hotel by eliminating its residential - looking pitched roof and changing the materials on the facade. 4. Regarding building lighting, it was requested that both hotels be lighted with ground - mounted flood lights around the perimeters of the buildings (specifically on the outermost north, west and south facades that are visible from US 31). 5. Regarding parking lot lighting, it was requested that all fixtures be architectural bronze. 6. Regarding sign colors, it was requested that the sign color for the Residence Inn signs be changed from red to white, with backlit white letters. In response to the above - referenced requests, we have incorporated all of the Special Studies Committee's proposed changes into the elevations and signage of the Residence Inn. Furthermore, we commit to provide the requested ground- mounted flood lighting around the buildings and to provide architectural bronze fixtures in the parking areas. • • • TO: Carmel/ Clay Plan Commission FROM: Elizabeth A. RE: Marriott Suite Hotels / Docket No. 61 -00 -DP /ADLS DATE: April 18, 2000 The following is a summary of the sign package for the Residence Inn, revised to incorporate the Special Studies Committee's comments generated after our presentation of the proposed Marriott Suite Hotels project on April 11th. We've also included a summary of the Springhill Suites' sign package in response to the Committee's request for clarification on the material and daytime color of the building's signs. Residence Inn West Elevation: One (1) set of 30" white Residence Inn reverse channel letters (backlit) with a white nonilluminated Marriott cloud sign installed on the elevation facing US 31, at the 4th story level, right side. The sign material is aluminum. The daytime color of the sign will be white; nightime color will be white with a halo effect. Total Square Footage: 59.29 Max Allowed per Code: 75 South Elevation: One (1) set of 12" burgundy Residence Inn nonilluminated gatehouse letters with logo /Marriott installed on the front elevation of the gatehouse building. The sign material is aluminum. Total Square Footage: 15.71 Compliant with Code. Springhill Suites North Elevation: One (1) set of 30" black Springhill Suites internally illuminated channel letters with flower and Marriott logos installed on the front elevation, above the 4th story level, centered in the sign band area. The sign material is Casocryl (plastic). The daytime color of the sign will be black; nighttime color will be white. Total Square Footage: 99.54 Max Allowed per Code: 105 South Elevation: One (1) nonstandard set of 36" black Springhill Suites internally illuminated channel letters with Marriott logo installed on the rear elevation, above the 4th story level, centered in the sign band area. The sign material is Casocryl (plastic). The daytime color of the sign will be black; nighttime color will be white. Total Square Footage: 113.99 Max Allowed per Code: 115
