Docket No. 04120012 ADLS Amend: CMC Office Center
The applicant seeks approval for signage and associated landscaping. The site is located
at 13295 Meridian Comers Blvd. The site is zoned B5 and is in the US 31 Overlay.
Filed by Sherry Marchbanks of Mazda Sign Inc.
The applicant is requesting ADLS Amendment approval for three wall signs on the east, south,
and west elevations of the subject building and a ground sign at the west end of the site as well as
two sets of flags. One set of flags would be on the building and one near the proposed ground
sign. Please see informational packet distributed with the agenda. The Department is not in
support of any part of this application. We spent considerable time earlier this year when CMC
came in and received approval for two wall signs. The approval was for letters only of the same
height and in one line "CMC OFFICE CENTER". These two signs were not installed partly due
to temporary sign violations on the property.
Primary issues/concerns.
1. The site has two frontages and thus is permitted two signs. Four signs are being
requested.
2. The applicant is requesting flags to be placed on top of the building. The Department
prefers the ground-mounted location only. This location needs to be identified on the
plans.
3. The applicant is once again requesting the logo. It is once again larger than the proposed
letters. We have requested revisions to the sign.
4. The letter type and illumination of wall signs is not identified in the information packet.
The Department recommends that the Special Studies Committee either table this item
directing the applicant to come back with a more appropriate request or deny the
application.
Note' Variance approval would be required to allow this level of signage. The
Department is not in support of any relief for this site.
