Attached is your copy of the ALDS Amendment form and a
copy of the sign permit application. ! am terribly sorry about the
delay in getting this to you. There was a miscommunication
between the City and our business, and we were under the
impression that we were to bring the packets to the meeting on
February 1,200,5. Please take the time and review this information
so that we can still attend the meeting. We have been Wing to get
this taken care of since September of last year and ! would hate to
have to delay another month. Again lam sorry about the
miscommunication and ! hope we will be able to address this next
week, at the meeting.

Subject: Kendall-Hahn ADLS/Amendment (Docket #05010034)
Our office received an application to be heard at the February 1st Plan Commission Committee Meeting for review
of the proposed Kendall Hahn ground sign. As identified by the fax sent to Teresa at Express Graphics, the fee of
$309.00 and nine packets for committee member review were to be delivered to this office by noon, January 21,
2005. These items were not delivered.
Typically when these items are not delivered, the petition is continued to the following month's agenda. You may
deliver these items (4 packets to committee members, and 3 packets with fee to the Carmel Department of
Community Services) by hand or via express mail, but whether your petition will be heard at the February 1st
meeting will still be at the discretion of Planning Administrator Jon Dobosiewicz. Mr. Dobosiewicz will return to
the office on Monday, January 31. Please contact him on Monday to verify when this petition will be heard by the
Plan Commission Committee.

Petitioner, please note the following:
1. This Item will not be on an agenda of the Technical Advisory Committee.
2. Mailed and Published Public Notice does not need to occur.
3. Proof of Notice is not needed.
4. The Filing Fee and Nine (9) Information packets must be delivered to Plan Commission Secretary,
Ramona Hancock, no later than NOON, Friday, January 21.
5. This Item will appear on the Tuesday, February 1, 2005, agenda of the Plan Commission Special
Studies Committee at 7 pm in the City Hall Caucus Rooms, Second Floor.
6. This site is within the Old Town Sign Boundary. As such, the only type of permitted ground sign is a
"Suspended Sign". Please revise your sign design to comply with such, or request a variance.
The definition of Suspended Sign is as follows (as defined in Chapter 3 of the Zoning Ordinance):
a. SIGN, SUSPENDED. A Ground Sign suspended from and installed on an arm or spar attached
to one (1) upright, decorative pole. The pole and arm and/or spar are limited to a maximum
16-square-inch cross-sectional area. No display or advertising sign shall be attached to the
standard of a suspended sign other than the display surface originally constructed as a part of
such sign. (Twelve (12) square feet maximum sign area). This type of sign shall be permitted
only in Old Town Carmel.
7. Suspended sign must not be closer than 5 feet to the street right of way.
