CARMEL ZONING ORDINANCEZ-289, SECTION 29.42(3): The Director, Department of Community Services (orstafQ
shall approve or deny the improvement location permit (building permit) within five (51 workinq davs of the receipt of ihe
written application form and accompanying materials. The improvement locafion permit (building permit) shall be issued
when the proposed structure, improvement or use and its location conform in all respects to this ordinance.
The followinq must be received bY the Department of Communitv Services before anv buildinq or remodelinq permit can be
reviewed or issued bV staff
1. ONE completed Improvement Location Permit (Building Permit) appiication.
2. TV�O (2) complete sets of construction plans. Building elevations, foundation plan, floorplan and typical
- wall sec6on must be shown. All cross-sec6ons must be properly detailed and labeled. At lease one cross-
secGon must show R-values of building materials to ensure compliance��nth the Indiana Energy Codes. If
minimurn R-values are not met on cross-section an Energy Code Compliance Worksheet must be
completad. If manufactured trusses are used, a diagram must be included with building plans for all trusses
being used. 7russ diagrams must be stamped with the seal of the registered archRect or engineer who is
responsible for that design. Only Indiana registrations will be recognized. I(a commercial construction,
plans must be stampedapproved bY the Indiana State Deoartment of Fire Prevenfion 8 Buildinq SafeN.
Indicate total height of building on plans.
3. ONE copy of sewer permit (from City of Carmel Engineering Dept., Hamilton Westem Utili�es or Clay
Regional Sewer District whichever appiies), or septic perm�t (Hamilton County Heaith Department).
4. ONE (�) copy of plot plan from subdivision development plan.
5. TWO (2) copies o�a site plan or p�ot plan showing the following REQUIRED information (can be obtained
from the landowner or developer):
—Name and address of designer of plan with date
—Name and address of owner
—lot number and subdivision or applicable general descripfion
—Lot drawn to scale—all dimensions
—Scale and north ar�ow
—LoUProperty lines
—Minimum front building setback line per approved development plan (nclude all f�ont yard)
—All roads, alleys, nghts-of-way, etc.
—All other utili�es and drainage rights-of-way and easements
—Any applicable flood plain area (Eleva6on Certificate if necessary)
—Buiiding pad elevation and lot corner elevabons
—A�I accessory buildings— existing or proposed
—All sidewalks and driveways
—Sewer and water lines, sep5c system (tanks.& filed system) and well location

—All drainage swales and subsurface facili�es (retention/detenbon areas, etc.)
—Sump pump (sump pump pits) showing discharge locafions
—Geothermal heat pump discharge°locations
