RESOLUTION NO. CC-07-18-05-01
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARMEL, INDIANA, TO AMEND THE 20-YEAR THOROUGHFARE PLAN, A PART
OF THE CARMEL/CLA Y COMPREHENSIVE PLAN, CHAPTER 6.
WHEREA.S, pursuant to the Advisory Planning Law of the State of Indiana (contained in
Ie 36-7-4), each unit of local government that wishes to adopt land use and zoning ordinances
must first approve by resolution. a comprehensive plan. for the geographic area over w4ich it has
jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, the 2020 Vision Comprehensive Plan (the "Comprehensive Plan") was
approved and recommended by the Carmel Clay Plan Commission on AllgUSt 20, 1996, and duly
approved by resolution of the Common .Council on Septem.ber 24, 1996, and is therefore the
official Comprehensive Plan of the City of Carmel and Clay Township; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ie 36-7-4-506 a thoroughfare plan may be included in the
Comprehensive Plan arid may det~rmine lines for new, extended, widened or narrowed public
ways in any part of the territory in the jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, after a thoroughfare plan has been included in the Comprehensive Plan,
t11orolJghfares m~y be located, changed, widened, straightened, or vacated only in the manner .
indicated in the Comprehensive Plan.; and
WHEREAS, the Carmel/Clay community has recognized the value of a well connected
and integrated alterna.tive transportation network and has adopted an Alternatjve Transportation
Plan as part of tIle official Thoroughfare Plan; and
t WHEREAS, the Carmel Advisory Plan' Commission, at its regularly scheduled: meeting
of Tuesday, J\lne .2.1, 2005, voted to forward Comprehensive Plan Amendment Docket No.
05060009 CPA to the Common Council with a favorable recommendation; .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Commo~ Council of the City of .
Carmel of Carmel, Indiana, that:
Section One: The Common Co~ncil adopts Exllibit A: 20... Year Thoroughfare Plan, as
part of the 2020 Vision Comprehensive Plan) Cl1apter 6, Thoroughfare
Plan.
Section Two: After its adoption, this Resolution shall be tiled in the office of the Clerk-
Treasurer of tIle City of Cannel, who shall also forward. one (1) copy of.
this Resolut~on to the secretary of the Carmel Advisory Plan Comnlission
and one (1) copy to the office of the Hamilton County Recorder, all in.
accordance with Ie 36-7-4-509 and other applic.able Jaws.
Section Three: This Resolution shall be in fllll force and effect from the date of passage,
and its pubiication, as provided by law.
