The Board met at 8 o'clock, with the following members pres-
ent: James M. Nutt, John Lee, Dunning Hall and Isaac Bales.
'The following claims were allowed:

James M. Nutt was delegated to see owner of old welborn
property as to ditch on street at the house.
John Lee w~s appointed to interview Ej H. Day as to exhaust
causihg noise, at the creamery. Complaint had been made by resi-
dents as to noise.
The Board at this time ~eappointed Earl Hinshaw and Mrs.
Pearl Eller as members of the library board.
After going over the situation in the town, the sixteen
hand fire extinguishers were placed &~ the following homes:
On ;~ain street at Earl Jeffries, Fred Strattan, John Stanton,
Rue Hinshaw,' and Gj C. Butterwor~h. on College avenue at
Shube Whiteand Oscar Applegate. In west Carmel at R. 0. Hodgin,
Frank Evans, ~. D. Stone, ~oah Hancock, Leslie Haines, Ernie
Buckles. ? In east Carmel at Fred Pfotenhauer, A. B. Rodibaugh,
A petf%ion was presented to the Board withdrawing the peti-
tion to improve Sugar street, filed August l~, 1920. The new
petition was as follows$
We, the undersigned property owners, ~h& have heretofore
signed a petition for the improvement of ~ugar street, east from
Coll~ge avenue, to the corporation line, hereby ask the Board of
the Town of Carmel, permission to withdraw our names from said
peti~ion. This action is taken because of the fact that we deem
said improvement too expensive to the property owners, in case
the town assess benefits and damages for the im~provement of

Said petition being signed by a majority of the property own-
ersers, the Board allowed th e petitioners to withdraw their
names and the improvement was ordered done away with.

On account of several lights on the street beiD~ out
several nights during the month the bill of $71.B8 submitted by
the Traction Dight & ~ower Co., was ordered reduced $5,00.
A speed ordinance was introduced by the town attorney who
had written the same for the Board. After discussion the ordi-
nance was ordered held for action at a later meeting.
