Executive Order JB-2010-5 CITY OF CARMEL EXECUTIVE ORDER J B- 2010 -5 WHEREAS, it is prudent for the City to limit the use of city -owned or leased vehicles as permanently assigned "take home vehicles" by the appointed officers and employees of the City of Carmel, Indiana; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Carmel to have a minimum essential number of departments and persons capable of being in an "on -call status" to react to various calls for assistance, to effect proper initial management oversight and control at emergencies, weather related matters; and natural or man -made disasters; and WHEREAS, take home vehicles shall, at a minimum, be operated in conformance to guidelines contained in Paragraph N, Chapter 2 of the "City of Carmel Civilian Personnel Policy Handbook NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the power and authority granted to me as Mayor of the City of Carmel, Indiana, I, James Brainard, do hereby declare and order the following changes in the numbers of permanently assigned take home vehicles in the departments indicated, effective immediately. DEPARTMENT CURRENT NUMBER NEW NUMBER Communication 3 2 Community Services 8 1 Engineer 1 1 General Administration 2 2 Street 13 5 Total: 27 11 NOTE: Department Directors, based on their assessment of need, may allow "temporary" use of a take home vehicle. This discretionary authority should be infrequent, limited and restricted to an absolute need as determined by the Department Director.
