Executive Order JB-2011-3 CITY OF CARMEL
EXECUTIVE ORDER
J B -2011- 3
WHEREAS, the City of Carmel may establish rules for the operation of City facility operations
and property; and
WHEREAS, the City of Carmel operates the Brookshire Golf Course as a City Golf Course
operation; and
WHEREAS, Executive Order JB- 2011 -2, was executed on June 27, 2011, prohibiting smoking or
the use of tobacco products of any nature on the property known as Brookshire Golf Course;
and
WHEREAS, the prohibition was put in place due to complaints raised by league golf participants;
and
WHEREAS, a number of concerns having been raised relative to the general course -wide
prohibition put in place by Executive Order JB- 2011 -2,
NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the power and authority granted to me as Mayor of the City of
Carmel, Indiana, I, James Brainard, do hereby declare and order that, the prior Executive Order
JB- 2011 -2 is hereby rescinded and the following provisions shall be effective on and after July 8,
2011:
1. Smoking or the use of tobacco products of any nature is strictly prohibited by any
person in or within 50 feet of any building structure on the property known as the
Brookshire Golf Course, located at 12120 Brookshire Parkway, Carmel, Indiana
46033. Failure to observe this Executive Order will result in the removal of violators
from the grounds.
2. Brookshire Golf Course Management and staff will adjust groups participating in
League Play to accommodate, at their request, those league members who do not
wish to be pair d with smokers.
