Since we are performing work on the Parcel #5 site, we are willing to perform services on Parcel #7 without a mobilization fee. The purpose of our foundation investigation will be to provide information for use in determining the most economical structurally sound foundations for the proposed structures. Our subsurface investigation will include the following: Determination of the general subsurface soil and groundwater conditions at the site to the depths which may be significantly affected by the foundations. Determination of the engineering characteristics of the subsurface materials encountered. Detettnination of the type or types of foundations which may be suitable for the support of the proposed buildings. Providing data required for the design of possible foundation types. ( Providing recommendations regarding management of possible, groundwater. We propose to investigate the subsurface soil and groundwater conditions at each site by drilling exploratory test borings. You have estimated 42 borings drilled to a depth of 35 feet each. Offices: Subsurface Investigation and Foundation Engineering Cincinnati, Ohio • Louisville, Kentucky Construction Materials Testing and Inspection Indianapolis • Evansville • Ft. Wayne • Lafayette • South Bend • Terre Haute, Indiana Environmental Services City of Carmel November 29, 2004 Page Two The foundation investigation will include laboratory testing to determine the classification, strength, compressibility, and other characteristics of the foundation materials as necessary. The results of our field exploration and laboratory testing would be utilized in performing an engineering analysis in the formulation of our recommendations. The results of our foundation investigation, including our recommendations and substantiating data, will be presented in a written report prepared by a registered professional engineer. It is proposed that our fee for the performance of the above outlined investigation be determined on a lump sum basis in accordance with our Schedule of Services and Fees. Fees for any additional services necessary would be in accordance with our Schedule of Services and Fees. Our original proposal included a fee of $7.50 per foot of drilling. The following is an itemized account of the estimated fees used to arrive at a lump sum figure: Mobilization of Personnel and Equipment (including clearing utilities and permits) Drilling of Exploratory Test Borings 1470 lft @ $7.50 (including ASTM D -1586 soil sampling) Laboratory Investigation $No Charge $11,025.00 $No Charge Engineering Services $ 750.00 (analysis and report preparation) Thus, a total fee of $11,775.00 is proposed to perform the above outlined services. We guarantee not to exceed this amount without your prior approval. Again, should it be necessary to perform additional borings, an additional fee of $7.50 per lineal feet (sampling included) would be applicable. Prior to commencement of drilling, the local utility companies will be contacted to provide clearing of underground utilities. Additionally, Alt & Witzig Engineering representatives will meet on -site in order to verify the existence of underground utilities. Thus, the boring locations will be cleared of all underground utilities to the best of the geotechnical contractors' knowledge. It is estimated that we could begin field operations three (3) working days after receiving notice to proceed, weather dependent. This will allow time to clear utilities and obtain permits. Since this is a local project and verbal recommendations are necessary soon after notice -to- proceed is given, we propose to mobilize three drill rigs. A written report will follow fifteen (15) working days after notice to proceed. However, if the information is needed more quickly, we are willing to work with you to meet your needs. City of Carmel November 29, 2004 Page Three We look forward to working with you in this project.
